Check In - Check is flexible here at the Duke of York. You are welcome to arrive at whatever time of the day is best for you, as long as you have let us know in advance. We ask that if you haven't announced your arrival time, on booking, then please call no later than the day before to let us know.

Check Out - Unless otherwise arranged, we ask that guests leave the rooms, no later than 10.30am on the day of departure, this gives us chance to prepare the rooms for the next party.

Car Parking - Our car park is located opposite the front of the building. There are spaces available for up to 6 cars, so please park within the lines as best as possible. We ask that all guests leave their keys in the office, so that we are able to move vehicles around at any time. The office is available to all guests 24/7.

If you are not able to park on the car park, we do have on-street permits available which allow you to park free of charge within the nearby 'Old Town' and we will be happy to accompany you to the nearest space and escort you back so you don't lose your way.

'Please note, as we have more rooms than parking spaces, we cannot guarantee a space for each guest, and spaces are generally allocated on a first come first serve basis. If we do run out of space on the car park, we can provide FREE on-street parking permits, and can more often than not park your car for you, moving it back on to the car park as soon as a space becomes available.

Transport - If at any point during your stay you need to organise transport then please just let us know. If we can, we would be happy to take you anywhere you need to go, however if we are unable to help, then we would be happy to organise a taxi for you. We also hold information on most local bus services, so please let us know if you need any travel advice. What we don't know, we'll find for you!

Luggage Storage - We have plenty of safe storage space for your luggage for those of you checking out early but spending the day in town. Simply let us know on the morning of your departure.

*Please note, due to our central location, you may hear some street noise, however this is never too bad and mainly only on weekend nights.

Smoking - Smoking is strictly prohibited in any part of the guest house. Guests staying in either of the balcony rooms, no's 3 & 11 are permitted to smoke on the balcony however are asked to close the balcony doors and use the ashtrays provided. Anyone found to be smoking in the rooms will be charged £50.00.

Guest Lounge - Our guest lounge is located on the ground floor and offers comfortable seating, a digital TV with Sky +, weekend newspapers and more often than not, a small Jack Russell named Jebadiah who enjoys the odd game of 'tug of war'. Guests are welcome to use the lounge at any time of the day.

WiFi - We do have WiFi within the building provided by 'Sky TV'. The code you need to access the broadband is provided on arrival. Unfortunately the signal does get weaker the higher up the house you are, therefore, if you are unable to access the WiFi from your room, you are welcome to use our lap top within the office on the ground floor at no further cost.

Ironing boards are provided on the 1st floor and 2nd floor landings and a travel cot is also available, located on the 2nd floor landing. Bedding for the cot can also be provided if needed.

Information regarding the local area is available in reception and all of the above information and more, including details on emergency services and late chemists etc is provided in a welcome pack in each guest bedroom.

Catering for up to 20 guests within 9 newly refurbished en-suite bedrooms, the Duke of York offers a relaxed and comfortable 'home from home' atmosphere.

Bookings can be taken over the phone or by e-mail. A deposit is required to confirm all bookings. All rates include breakfast.
